Provenance: The State Historical Society of North Dakota acquired the Danish Brotherhood of America records from Daisy Hermanson in August 1990.

Historical Note:  The Danish Brotherhood of America Lodge 251 of Devils Lake was charted on February 8, 1907 and closed in December 1975. The organization of Lodge 251 was pioneered by Hans Peter Jensen for the purpose of keeping intact the Danish heritage of the people in the Devils Lake area. Meetings were conducted above Pillsbury Hardware, known as Pillsbury Hall. Members included farmers, contractors, carpenters, electricians, bricklayers, store stockmen, lumberyard operator, banker, and jeweler. Early members included: Frederick Daldemar Gram, Rasmus P. Jensen, Hans Clausen, Peter Jorgensen, N. P. Nielsen, Jens Mosbek, Louis Simonsen, Louis Hansen, P. Jensen Rude, Nels Clausen, J. S. Sorensen, Jens Renborg, John Westerhom, Hans Westergaard, Ole Holbek, Herman Pedersen, Christ Kasserer Sorensen, E. Hammike, and Carl Trap.
