The health and safety of our visitors and community is our highest priority. The State Historical Society is closely monitoring the status of COVID-19 in our region. We will continue to follow the guidance of state leaders and public health experts as we make decisions about future events, programs, and business operations. With concerns about COVID-19 ongoing, we are responding with the updates below.


All State Historical Society museums and historic sites are CLOSED until further notice, including the ND Heritage Center & State Museum. Our staff remain available by calls and email.


All public programs and events at the ND Heritage Center & State Museum are cancelled through May 3 and through at least April 6 at our other state museums and historic sites.

State Museum and Store: 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. M-F; Sat. & Sun. 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.
We are closed New Year's Day, Easter, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.
We are open 8 a.m.-noon on Christmas Eve.
State Archives: 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. M-F, except state holidays; 2nd Sat. of each month, 10 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
State Historical Society offices: 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. M-F, except state holidays.
