The North Dakota Person of History Award recognizes those individuals who have had a prominent role in the history of North Dakota.
Eligible nominees must be deceased at least 10 years.

Awards are reviewed by a committee appointed by the Director of the State Historical Society of North Dakota (SHSND). Presentations of all awards are made annually each fall at the Governor’s Conference on North Dakota History. All materials submitted to the awards program become the property of SHSND, may be used by SHSND in promoting the awards program, and will not be returned.
Nomination packets must be delivered or postmarked by 5:00 pm on the second Friday of July. Entries delivered or mailed after this date may be held for consideration the following year.
